Sound familiar?

The questions that come up before most cooker projects, and all of them have straight answers.

Nobody local will touch our Aga. Aga, Rayburn and range cookers are a specialism here, not a sideline, and the work is taken on across the county.

The last engineer made it worse. Diagnosis first, parts second. Plenty of this work is putting right an installation or repair that was never finished properly.

The cooker also runs our heating. Cooker, heating and hot water are handled by the same engineer, rather than split between trades who blame each other.

We do not know whether to repair or replace. An honest assessment of the appliance and what it will cost to keep, with no pressure to change it.

The kitchen has just been finished. Careful, clean working. Floors protected, the appliance handled properly and the kitchen left as it was found.

How an installation runs

The same careful sequence, whether it is a service or a full replacement.

  1. Survey and advice

A visit to check access, the hearth, the flue and the fuel supply, with impartial advice on the right appliance.

  2. Written quote

Plain English, named appliance and components, including removal of the old cooker where that applies.

  3. Clean installation

Protected floors, careful handling, and the appliance built and commissioned properly first time round.

  4. Commission and hand over

Cooker run up, controls explained, safety documentation and guarantee paperwork handed over.

Cooker questions, answered

The things customers ask before booking. Anything else, just call.

Do you install and service Aga and Rayburn cookers?

Yes, both. Phil is a Rayburn Guild authorised engineer and works as an Aga approved representative in Cornwall, so installation, servicing, fault finding and repair are all covered by the same person.

Can you take the old cooker out?

Yes. Dismantling and removal of the existing appliance is part of the job and is included in the written quote, so there is no separate arrangement to make.

Our cooker runs the heating and hot water. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Cooker boilers that also serve heating and hot water are common in Cornwall, and having the same engineer look after the cooker, the system and the servicing avoids the usual split between trades.

Which appliance should we choose?

Free impartial advice on what suits your home is part of the service. Fuel available, the size of the kitchen, how you cook and whether the cooker needs to heat water all feed into the recommendation, before anything is ordered.
